Privacy Policy

Account information: when you register on Alstug, we collect your name, email address, password (stored securely, hashed — we never see or store your plain-text password) and, if you choose to give them, your level and department. If you sign in with a social provider (Google, Facebook, etc.), we receive your name, email, and profile photo from that provider.

Family and learner profiles: a parent or teacher can add profiles for children or pupils (a name, a colour and optionally a level and department) to play quizzes for them. These profiles have no login, belong to the account that created them, and their quiz results are stored in that account.

Content you submit: comments, reactions, quiz attempts and results, downloads, and messages sent through our contact form. When you join a live quiz, the name you play under, your progress and score are visible to the quiz organiser and, if the leaderboard is on, to other players in that quiz.

Usage data: pages you visit, searches you perform, and general interaction with the site, collected automatically to help us improve the platform.

Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (like dark mode), and measure site usage.

To provide and maintain the Alstug platform — past questions, syllabi, notes, quizzes and related study resources.

To personalize your experience, such as tracking your quiz history and recommending content for your level.

To communicate with you about your account, respond to messages sent through our contact form, and send important service updates.

To monitor and improve site performance, security, and content quality.

To display advertising through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run Alstug — for example, hosting providers, email delivery services, and analytics/advertising partners (such as Google) — and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their services.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Alstug, our users, or the public.

Alstug uses cookies for authentication (keeping you signed in), remembering your appearance preference, and — where enabled — analytics and advertising (Google AdSense). You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work correctly without them.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can review and update your account information, learner profiles and password at any time from your profile. You can delete your account yourself from the profile page; this removes your account, learner profiles and quiz history. For anything else, contact us through the Contact page.

Alstug is intended for students preparing for secondary, high school and university-level exams. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian consent. Parents can play with their children through learner profiles, which only hold the details the parent enters.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated revision date on this page. Continued use of Alstug after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
